The Lance Armstrong Foundation, along with Nike, created the original yellow "Livestrong"
wristband in May 2004, and sold 30 million by the end of 2005 at $1 per bracelet, raising $30
million to educate and support cancer survivors and their families.

Building on that momentum, two young teens in New Jersey sold 10,000 blue wristbands with the
phrase "
Cure Diabetes Today" in just four weeks, according to the New York Times. They raised
$20,000 for diabetes research and now have 30,000 more wristbands on order.

The momentum continues with red wristbands for
AIDS awareness from the One Earth Foundation
and colorful puzzle-piece wristbands for
autism awareness from AutismLink in Pittsburgh, PA.

Borders and Waldenbooks support CARE, spreading knowledge and fighting poverty around the
